An automated SEO recovery engine
A monthly system that finds pages losing Google rankings, diagnoses why, and automatically rewrites their SEO — across thousands of pages and 11 languages.
The challenge
A catalog with thousands of pages quietly loses rankings every month — and finding which pages are slipping, diagnosing why, and rewriting their SEO by hand across ~31,000 page+keyword combinations is impossible.
What we built
- Two connected self-hosted n8n workflows run a monthly cycle. The first pulls 12 months of Google Search Console data (four time snapshots) and labels every page+keyword — protect, optimise, or recover.
- For declining pages it queries Google's URL Inspection API directly — is the page indexed, crawled, blocked by robots.txt, or hit by a canonical conflict? — separating real technical faults from copy problems.
- The second workflow then auto-rewrites Rank Math SEO metadata (focus keyword, title, description, social preview) with local AI for the priority pages — posts and category pages alike — and pings Google's Indexing API to re-crawl them.
- Guardrails keep it safe: healthy pages are left untouched, a 60-day cooldown prevents thrashing, and pages that need a developer (404s, crawl blocks) are separated into a manual queue. Everything is logged.
